It is nothing short of an insult to the young people of Ogun State that Governor Dapo Abiodun, over two years after securing his second term in office, has failed to appoint a Commissioner for Youth Affairs. This reckless disregard for youth representation in governance is unacceptable and must be called out.
Ogun State, a land of vibrant, industrious, and politically conscious young people, has been left without a voice in the very government that promised them inclusion. For over twoyears, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has operated without a commissioner, a clear indication that the Abiodun-led administration does not prioritize youth development. This is not just a case of delayed appointment: it is an outright abandonment of the youth constituency.
What reason can Governor Abiodun possibly give for leaving an entire ministry headless for over a year? Does he believe Ogun youth are not deserving of structured representation in his government? Or does he see young people merely as political tools to be used during elections and discarded afterward?
Governance is about responsibility, and when a critical sector like youth affairs is left unattended, it exposes a government that is either clueless, careless, or both. While other states are actively engaging young people in policy-making, skills development, and empowerment programs, Ogun State’s youth have been left directionless, with no clear policies or structured engagement from the government.
It is particularly shameful that while Governor Abiodun continues to ignore the youths of Ogun State, the Federal Government has set in motion plans for a National Youth Conference aimed at addressing youth-related issues and setting a roadmap for national development. How does Ogun State intend to contribute meaningfully to this initiative when its own youth ministry remains leaderless and rudderless?
Is Governor Abiodun comfortable with Ogun State being a passive observer while others take decisive action on youth development? Or is his administration so disconnected from reality that it believes youth issues can be ignored indefinitely?
Exposed!! Popular Abuja doctor revealed how men can naturally and permanently cure poor erection, quick ejaculation, small and shameful manhood without side effects. Even if you are hypertensive or diabetic . Stop the use of hard drugs for sex!! It kills!
Let it be clear: the youth of Ogun State are not fools. We refuse to be treated as second-class citizens in our own state. The time for excuses is over. Governor Abiodun must immediately appoint a competent and capable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, one who understands the challenges facing young people and is willing to work for real solutions.
The continuous neglect of the youth ministry suggests a deliberate lack of political will to invest in the future of Ogun State’s young population. If this administration continues to sideline the youth, it should be prepared to face the consequences because the young people of Ogun State will not forget this betrayal when the time for accountability comes.
I call on civil society organizations, youth advocacy groups, and the media to amplify this issue and demand answers from the governor. It is not just about filling a political position, it is about ensuring that Ogun youth have an advocate in government, someone responsible for policies that shape their future.
For too long, young people have been treated as mere political foot soldiers, mobilized for rallies and elections, only to be discarded when governance begins. This must stop. The youth of Ogun State deserve real representation, real opportunities, and real engagement in governance.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, the ball is in your court. History will remember your actions or your inactions.
