Tambuwal Pays Tribute to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on 15th Memorial Anniversary

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and immediate past Governor of Sokoto State, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has paid glowing tribute to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, GCFR, as Nigeria marks fifteen years since his passing.
In a reflective post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Tambuwal described Yar’Adua as “one of Nigeria’s finest sons” whose legacy continues to serve as a moral compass in the nation’s political landscape. Recalling his exemplary leadership, Tambuwal noted that President Yar’Adua was a statesman who wore power with modesty and exercised it with the fear of God.
Tambuwal praised the late President’s unwavering commitment to due process, the rule of law, and the sanctity of institutions. He added that Yar’Adua’s approach to governance was not marked by noise or spectacle, but by service, sacrifice, and sincerity.
Highlighting key milestones of the Yar’Adua administration, Tambuwal referenced the amnesty programme in the Niger Delta, which helped stabilise the region. He also noted the former President’s courageous steps towards electoral reform and his public declaration of assets, describing them as rare acts of integrity in public office.
According to Tambuwal, “President Yar’Adua taught us that true leadership is not loud; it is consistent. And the best legacy a leader can leave is not infrastructure, but trust — earned, kept, and never betrayed.”
He concluded the tribute with a prayer, asking Almighty Allah (S.W.T) to continue to elevate Yar’Adua’s rank in Jannah and to bless Nigeria with leaders who embody his values of humility, justice, and conscience.
