EXPOSED: Tinubu’s Top Security Aides Implicated In $1.5Million Bribery Scandal, Bashir-Haske Fingered

Two of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s closest security aides, Chief Security Officer (CSO), Adegboyega Fasasi, and Chief Personal Security Officer, Usman Shugaba, have been accused of collecting a $1.5 million bribe to facilitate access to the President inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Sahara Reporters, multiple security and presidency sources revealed that the duo allegedly acted as intermediaries between the embattled Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and President Tinubu.
Ojulari, currently under investigation for money laundering involving multi-million-dollar transfers to AA&R Investment Group, reportedly secured an audience with Tinubu on June 10, 2024, at 11 a.m., after the payment was made. The company, AA&R, is owned by Abdullahi Bashir-Haske, the son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar — Tinubu’s main political rival in the 2023 elections and a key figure in opposition efforts to challenge the ruling APC in 2027.
“The President was angry after security reports linked Ojulari to questionable financial transactions with Atiku Abubakar’s son-in-law,” one source told Sahara Reporters.
Ojulari is alleged to have used NNPC funds to indirectly finance political opponents, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which opposition leaders are reportedly building as a platform against Tinubu.

In July, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Bashir-Haske over alleged money laundering. During interrogation, he confessed that Ojulari’s access to Tinubu was facilitated by Fasasi and Shugaba after a $1.5 million payoff.
Sources disclosed to Sahara Reporters that Fasasi even issued a Presidential Villa access tag to Haske and allegedly promised to lobby the EFCC chairman on his behalf — a promise that never materialized.
“The CSO, Fasasi, and the Chief Personal Security Officer, Shugaba, collected $1.5 million from Ojulari’s associate, Bashir-Haske, to grant access to the President. They abused their office and compromised Villa security,” a source familiar with the probe confirmed.
Another insider alleged that similar incidents occurred in December 2024, when Fasasi and other Villa security operatives collected $500,000 from a Niger Delta militant to facilitate a contract deal.
A Pattern of Corruption and Defiance
Fasasi has faced previous controversies. On October 20, 2024, Sahara Reporters reported that the Director General of the State Security Service (DSS), Tosin Ajayi, had redeployed Fasasi and replaced him with Deputy Director Rasheed Atanda Lawal. Yet, Fasasi refused to vacate his post, allegedly relying on the backing of powerful governors and influential allies.
Sources accused Fasasi of systematically extorting politicians and businessmen for access to Tinubu, claiming that his refusal to step aside was fueled by those who had already paid him bribes and feared starting afresh with a replacement.
Despite repeated allegations of misconduct, Fasasi has reportedly managed to cling to power inside the Villa, a development that insiders warn is tarnishing Tinubu’s image and threatening presidential security.
