BREAKING: Christian Eriksen Discharged From Hospital

Christian Eriksen, the Danish football star, has been discharged from the hospital and is now free to return home following a successful operation, according to the Danish Football Association.

The good news was announced by the country’s Football Association in a tweet on Friday.

Eriksen was taken to the hospital on Saturday after suffering a heart arrest during the first half of Denmark’s EURO 2020 Group B match against Finland at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, which his team defeated 1-0.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and performed CPR on the 29-year-old for around 13 minutes before he was resuscitated.

During the operation, the Inter Millan midfielder was implanted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICB), an under-the-skin heart-starting device.

The Danish FA in the tweet said, “Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation and was today discharged from Rigshospitalet. Today, he also visited the national team in Helsinger and from there, he will go home and spend time with his family.”

Speaking after being discharged from the hospital, Eriksen said, “Thank you for the massive number of greetings – it has been incredible to see and feel. The operation went well, and I am doing really well under the circumstances.”

Encouraging his team mates ahead of their next group match on Monday, he added that, “it was really great to see the guys again after the fantastic game they played last night. No need to say that I will be cheering on them on Monday against Russia.”
