Benue: Enone APC Forum calls for expulsion of Senate, Reps aspirants

For attempting to disrupt the ongoing primaries for House of Representatives of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), some stakeholders, under the aegis of Enone APC Forum, have called on the party echelon, to expel Hon. Francis Ottah Agbo, and Hon. Okoliko Aba, aspirants for Benue South Senate and House of Representatives, respectively.

In a statement signed Saturday night by the Spokesperson, Engr. John Apochi, the Enone APC Forum said the original motive behind staging a disruptive protest around the voting point in Okpoga, headquarters of Okpokwu LGA Saturday afternoon, when the direct primaries was about begin, was clinically orchestrated to stop the elections and embarrass Governor Hyacinth Alia, who is the leader of the party.

Saturday was fixed for direct primaries of the APC, to elect party’s flag bearers for House of Representatives, across the country.

But at the headquarters of the APC primaries in Okpoga, Okpokwu LGA, some supporters of Hon. Aba, a Rep Aspirant, and those of Hon. Agbo, a senatorial aspirant for Benue South, were seeing protesting with the campaign materials of their principals, and with placards bearing, “No Okoliko, No Election”; ” Alia Leave Enone Alone”, etc, apparently saying the election must not hold, unless Hon. Okoliko Aba was announced winner.

In his reaction, the Spokesperson of Enone APC Forum said such act was alien to Enone politics, adding that politics of thuggery and hooliganism must be stopped.

“His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Alia, the Leader of our dear party, the APC State Chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale, the National leadership and all critical stakeholders should not allow this effrontery go unpunished.

“If they don’t take urgent step to discipline Hon. Okoliko Aba and Dr. Francis Agbo, others would continue to borrow a leaf from this reckless style of politics which is alien to us in Enone. This imported militancy style of scuffling participatory electoral process must be discouraged.

“If anyone thinks he is popular, he should present himself for election. We will not tolerate politics of thuggery and hooliganism. Any attempt to hire hoodlums for 3 thousand naira per youth, to disrupt process and embarrass the Governor must bs checked.

“The way supporters of Okoliko and Ottah Agbo caused serious tension today was uncalled for. It was not necessary. The aspirant, Okoliko was not disqualified. Nobody stopped him from participating in the Direct Primaries, but he chose to display primitive politics. Ottah too, was not an aspirant in today’s primaries, but he permitted his supporters to stage the protest with those of Aba, just to play the devil’s advocate and embarrass the Governor. The day of reckoning is coming”, the Forum stated.

While pledging allegiance and support to Governor Alia, the Forum, made up of majorly party elders, called on the Governor to make adequate arrangements for security ahead of the senatorial primaries, saying, “it is better to have enough security on ground, since Ottah Agbo would be an aspirant for Benue South Senate on Monday”.
