Yoruba Nation Agitators Request Funds To Bail Sunday Igboho’s Aides

Due to a lack of funds, the 12 aides of the self-styled Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, who were granted bail by an Abuja High Court on Wednesday remain in custody.

The aides have not been released after 48 hours since they have not met their bail requirements as of Friday, according to NEWS DIRECT.

The Yoruba Nation progenitors are said to require about N15 million in order to be released from DSS detention.

On July 1, the DSS invaded Adeyemo’s Ibadan home, affectionately known as Sunday Igboho, killing two people and detaining 12.

Sunday Igboho was also charged by the DSS of hoarding rifles and ammunition, which the activist has rejected.

Four of the 12 Yoruba nation agitators were granted bail in the value of N10 million with two sureties in the same quantity on Wednesday, while eight others were admitted to bail in the sum of N5 million.

On Friday, Sunday, Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, gave an update, pleading with all Yoruba sons and daughters to help raise the money before the end of work on Monday, August 9.

According to a statement titled, “Emergency bail contributions for 12 Yoruba agitators in Abuja”, Koiki said some “accounts were prepared to temporarily raise funds needed to move our people arrested at Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho’s house out of the bondage of the Nigerian Government before the close of business on Monday 9th August, 2021.”

He said that, “Our Legal Adviser has promised to supervise the utilisation of the funds for the purpose which it was created for.

“We hereby call on all Yoruba Sons and Daughters Worldwide to support this drive.

“The account is strictly for the BAIL of the 12 people arrested in Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho’s Ibadan Residence on July 1st, 2021.”
