Tension in Ede as Adeleke’s proposed CoS kills two

Alleged officer is on illegal duty - Police Command

Palpable tension has risen in Ede, Osun State, over the killing of two persons believed to have worked for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last governorship election in the State.

According to reports from residents of the area where the sad incident occurred, one CSP Omoyele who has been penciled down to be the Chief Security Officer (CoS) to the Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke reportedly shot at the victims last night in the ancient town.

Trouble was said to have started over the disagreement within the PDP’s chieftains regarding the left over money released by Adeleke for the governorship election.

At the meeting, one of the members of the Osun House of Assembly who was represented by his Personal Assistant was accused of withholding the money and was asked to release it.

It was further revealed that the ensued altercations led to the exchange of combat and repeated slapping of one another before the matter was later resolved.

The friends of the Personal Assistant to the House member who felt slighted over the matter called Omoyele and they mobilised to Ede and invaded the home of the chieftain of the PDP whom he had disagreement with and killed two persons in the process including a staunch APC member who happens to be son of the PDP chieftain.

The APC supporters in Ede are insisting that the killing was deliberate to eliminate members of APC who refused to be compromised to work for Adeleke during the guber poll.

Meanwhile, sources closed to the police revealed that the Osun Commissioner of Police has stepped into the matter just as he allegedly disowned the operation insisting that Omoyele and his team were not meant to be in Ede at the time of the incident.

According to sources, the CP said Omoyele informed him about the incident in Osogbo and he was told to mobilise to the place.

“I didn’t send him to Ede. I only asked him to mobilise his team to Osogbo to intervene in the alleged cultist fight. I didn’t know how he got to Ede. But we must get to the roots of the matter,” the police reportedly said.
