Teenage Boy Drowns In Kano Pond
Umar Ali, a 15-year-old boy, drowned at Bela pond in Kano State’s Ungoggo Local Government.
Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, a spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident to reporters.
On Wednesday about 9:30 a.m., he added, the emergency response team received a call that a teenager’s body had been discovered drowned in a pond while swimming.
He went on to say that the rescue crew sprung into action right afterwards and succeeded in extracting the unresponsive body, which was later certified dead by a medical specialist.
However, Abdullahi claimed that the agency was concerned about the rising number of drownings in local ponds.
Sani Alhassan, a 25-year-old man from Saye village in Bichi Local Government Area, died recently while swimming in a pond.

He stated that the agency was attempting to educate the general population about safety precautions.
