Tambuwal Salutes Nigerian Workers: “Your Work Matters. You Matter.”

As Nigeria joins the global community in marking Workers’ Day, former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has paid glowing tribute to the nation’s workforce, describing them as the “heartbeat of our economy and the conscience of our society.”
In a statement shared on his official X handle (@AWTambuwal), Senator Tambuwal lauded Nigerian workers across all sectors for their resilience, dedication and indispensable contributions to national development.
“Whether you are in classrooms, hospitals, courts, fields, factories or behind the scenes keeping our systems running, your dedication writes the lessons of progress,” he wrote.
He emphasised that true development goes beyond economic statistics, asserting that it is defined by the dignity of labour, fairness of wages, safety of the workplace and the respect society accords its workers.
“I believe in a Nigeria where hard work is rewarded, not exploited. Where the rights of workers are protected and their voices respected. Where the youth are equipped for today’s economy and where women are not just included but empowered,” the statement read.
Tambuwal, who is also a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, called for a renewed national commitment to building a just and inclusive society where work is not merely a means of survival but a source of pride and purpose.
