Tambuwal Mourns Victims of Devastating Mokwa Floods, Calls for Urgent Action

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic flooding that recently struck Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, describing the incident as a “human tragedy of staggering proportions.”
In a statement posted on his official X handle, the former Governor of Sokoto State extended his heartfelt condolences to His Excellency, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the government, and the people of Niger State, as the death toll continues to rise and the search for missing persons persists.
“I am profoundly heartbroken by the devastating flooding in Mokwa, Niger State, which has claimed scores of lives, left many missing, and displaced thousands,” Tambuwal said. “As more bodies of loved ones are being searched for or discovered, it must be an unimaginably difficult moment for families—caught between grief, uncertainty, and the fragile hope of reunion.”
He described the event as not just a disaster, but a wake-up call for the country, stressing the vulnerability of communities in the face of natural calamities and the urgent need for proactive measures. “Entire families shattered, homes swept away, dreams destroyed,” he lamented.
While commending the efforts of emergency responders, Senator Tambuwal called on both state and federal authorities to intensify relief operations and adopt long-term, sustainable flood management strategies to avert future tragedies.
“May the souls of the departed find peace, and may those still missing return safely to the embrace of their loved ones,” he prayed.
