Tambuwal Mourns Edwin Clark, Says Nigeria Has Lost a Towering Statesman

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Edwin Clark, describing the elder statesman as a nationalist, fearless advocate for justice, and a resolute voice for good governance in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Monday, Tambuwal noted that Clark’s demise at the age of 97 marks the end of an era of unwavering statesmanship, fearless advocacy, and lifelong dedication to national service.

“Chief Clark was a towering figure in Nigeria’s political and socio-economic landscape, dedicating his life to the pursuit of fairness, unity, and development, particularly for the Niger Delta region and the country at large,” Tambuwal stated.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives praised Clark’s wisdom, courage, and steadfast commitment to national discourse, noting that his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic evolution were invaluable.

“His voice will be sorely missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who believe in a just and united Nigeria,” he added.

Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, extended his condolences to Clark’s family, the government and people of Delta State, and all Nigerians who were touched by his leadership and selfless service.

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Sokoto South Senatorial District, I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss,” Tambuwal said.

Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information and a prominent leader in the struggle for resource control and regional equity, was widely regarded as a pillar of the Niger Delta’s political activism and an unwavering advocate for national unity.
