Super Eagles Paul Onuachu Test Positive For COVID-19
Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu, who plays for Genk in Belgium has tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the first Nigeria national team player to test positive for the virus.
As reported by Het Laaste Niuews, the Smurfs were subjected to a Covid-19 test in the build-up to Thursday’s pre-season game against Eendracht Termien with only the Nigerian testing positive.
“In the run-up to the first exhibition game of the season, the entire Genk group was tested yesterday (Tuesday),” a report on the Belgian website hln.be stated.
“Everyone tested negative except Onuachu.”
Onuachu becomes the second Nigerian footballer to contract the virus after Akpan Udoh, the first footballer to be infected, in February.
Onuachu will now miss Genk’s first exhibition game of the season against Eendracht Termien on Thursday, July 9, as he will be quarantined for a week.
