SUBEB Suspends Teacher For Allegedly Defiling 14 Pupils In Niger School

The management of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has suspended Alhaji Usman Galadima, a Grade two teacher at Central Primary School Karabonde in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, for allegedly defiling 14 kids at the school.

Alh. Galadima has been accused of sexually assaulting some students at the school and threatening to kill them if they revealed what he had done to them.

However, some of the students had the confidence to tell their school’s Head Mistress, Maimunat Tanko, about the occurrence, who then informed the Head Master, Mallam Abdullahi Toure.

On August 25, 2021, the school reported the randy teacher’s behavior to the Borgu LGA’s social welfare department, according to DAILY POST.

It was learned that this was followed by a visit to the school by the council’s Education Secretary to ascertain the true status of the report, and then the formation of a committee to investigate the matter on August 27, 2021, even as more girls came forward to say they had been sexually assaulted by the same teacher.

During the hearing, Galadima was said to have appeared before the committee and confessed to the crime.

The board made the admission to DAILY POST in Minna through its Public Relations Officer, PRO, Idirs Kolo, who stated that the accused deserved to be punished for what he did to the children.

He added that the teacher must first be suspended from work before any further action can be taken against him.

” The management of SUBEB has suspended him because, what he did cannot be swept under the carpet by anyone. The state Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello is not happy with the development,” Idris explained.

When contacted, Barrister Maryam Kolo, Director of the Niger State Child Right Protection Agency, confirmed the events at the school.

She explained that the Agency helped move the matter from Borgu LGA to Minna so that it could be adequately probed.

The State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, also confirmed the development, saying that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has ordered a full inquiry into the situation.
