South-East Governors Ready To Fight ‘Devilish, Foolish’ IPOB Sit-At-Home Order — Umahi
Chief David Umahi, the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum and the Governor of Ebonyi State, said on Sunday that the governors of the zone are ready to battle the IPOB sit-at-home order, which he described as “devilish and foolish.”
Umahi expressed concern that the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) sit-at-home order, if not halted by the zone’s five governors, will hinder economic progress and drive out investors.
The governor has ordered that all shops owned by traders who do not open for business on Monday be impounded immediately.
He also ordered the immediate dismissal of state officials who fail to report to work on Monday, and he urged security chiefs in the south east zone to send security forces to the streets to prevent law and order breakdowns.
This was revealed by Umahi while speaking to members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, stakeholders during an emergency meeting held at the ecumenical centre in Abakaliki, the state capital of Ebonyi.
According to him, “Any trader that does not open up their shops for businesses will be taken over by the government. South east region is gradually being destroyed by IPOB sit-at-home. We have to fight it. We have to say no to that.
