…condoles family, says Osun has lost an astute traditional ruler
…as gov sues for communal peace
The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Saturday said the good deeds of the late Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Oba Al-Maroof Adekunle Magbagbeola, would continue to live forever in the hearts of the people of the State in general and his town in particular.
This is even as the Governor urged the people of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities to embrace peace and reflect same in their outward and inward relationships with one another.
Oba Magbagbeola reportedly joined his ancestors on Monday, April 20, 2021 after a brief illness.
Governor Oyetola spoke at the Interdenominational Service and Traditional Rite organised by the burial committee in honour of the late monarch held at Olufon’s Palace Courtyard, Ifon-Osun.

Oyetola who described the death of the revered monarch as a collosal loss to the State, said Osun has lost an astute traditional ruler whose entire life was spent to serve God and humanity.
Oyetola lauded the rare virtues of the deceased while alive, saying that his Administration would continue to remember him for good as he stood firm to ensure peace not only in his domain but also in the State at large.
He condoled the immediate family, the people of the ancient town and Osun for the irreparable loss.
“I condole with the Royal family, the people of Ifon and the entire Orolu Local Government Area of the State over the passing of the reverred monarch.
“No doubt, his death is a colossal loss to the State. The late Oba Almorouf was a symbol of history, culture and heritage, and will be remembered as a visionary leader who made important contributions to cultural identity, national unity, peace and progress of Osun and Nigeria as a whole.
“It was not until I came to serve in Osun that I knew the late monarch. We used to meet at Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj. He was a faithful and religious person. His reign witnessed tremendous achievements and I pray God to repose his soul.
“We didn’t forget what Ifon-Osun did before our emergence. We are working hard to pay you back. As a matter of fact, I have seen some potholes that required intervention and I promise you that we will do all that is possible to support you in terms of your demands. But if you want the desired development, you must allow peace to reign,” he said.
The Governor therefore prayed Allah to grant him Aljana Firdaus and also grant the family and people of Ifon the fortitude to bear the loss.
