Nigeria’s Tunji Balogun Emerges Def Jam CEO
Tunji Balogun, a Nigerian-American record industry executive, is set to become the CEO of Def Jam Records, an international musical label.
Mr Balogun began his career as an intern at Warner Brothers Records and rose through the ranks of the company, eventually becoming executive vice president of RCA Records.
Mr Balogun will be the next CEO of Def Jam Records, a 35-year-old American record label primarily focused on the creation and transmission of hip hop, pop, and urban music, according to Variety. He will take over for Eminem’s long-time manager, Paul Rosenberg.
Justin Bieber, Big Sean, Kanye West, and Rihanna are just a few of the notable musicians who have signed with the label.
In 2015, the Nigerian-American returned to his previous label, RCA, where he was instrumental in the signing of artists such as H.E.R., Khalid, SZA, and others.
Mr Balogun’s admirers are now looking forward to his new adventures at Def Jam after he emerged as the top executive at Keep Cool Label, a record label he co-founded with RCA alongside other executives like Courtney Stewart, Jon Tanners, and Jared Sherman.
