Nigerian Billionaire Benedict Peters Not Arrested in Ghana, Says Dele Momodu

Accra, Ghana – Earlier today, social media in Ghana was rife with reports alleging that Nigerian billionaire businessman, Benedict Peters, had been arrested in Accra following an incident involving his security operatives. The reports claimed that Peters’ alleged “armed militia” had blocked the entrance of a high-end residential estate near the Jubilee House, sparking security concerns.
However, renowned media executive Chief Dele Momodu has come forward to clarify the situation, dismissing the reports as exaggerated and misleading. In a statement shared with the public, Momodu, Chairman of Ovation Media Group, refuted claims of Peters’ arrest, describing him as a “well-informed and unassuming businessman.”
“I have now spoken with Benedict and was happy that he said the Ghanaian authorities acted promptly, professionally, and responsibly to douse the tension,” Momodu said. He also praised Ghana’s security forces for their mature handling of the situation, adding that such professionalism reinforces Ghana’s reputation as a preferred destination for investors and tourists.
The incident, which gained significant attention online, highlights the sensitivity surrounding reports involving foreign nationals, especially Nigerians, in Ghana. Chief Momodu cautioned against the spread of sensational narratives, urging the public and media to verify facts before drawing conclusions.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Ghanaian authorities that Peters was arrested or that any criminal charges are being pursued.
