N-Power: FG Starts Payment Of Outstanding Arrears To Beneficiaries
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development has begun paying stipend arrears for batches A and B of the N-Power program’s 2016 and 2018 volunteers across the country.
Permanent Secretary, Bashir Alkali, provided the update in a statement on Friday.
Alkali said the accounts of 14,021 volunteers were flagged in March 2020 by the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) for various reasons.
They include multiple bank accounts and receiving multiple salaries from other government ministries/agencies.
Alkali said the acts violated the regulations guiding the N-Power volunteer programme.
He disclosed that after an investigation in collaboration with relevant government agencies, 9,066 volunteers were cleared for payment.
