“My Past Battles With Buhari Is Only Political,” Fani-Kayode Speaks On Defection To APC

Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation, has said that his fights with President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 were purely political.

After meeting Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, Fani-Kayode officially quit the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Fani-Kayode declared that he has never claimed to be an angel or a demon, but that Nigeria is engaged in a war that requires everyone’s cooperation.

According to the former minister, today’s key issues are not about Buhari or him, but about assisting underprivileged Nigerians.

I am not the first to defect from a political. Do all other defectors take back what they say?

“Now is a time to work with Buhari to move the nation forward,” he said.

Fani-Kayode praised Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni for uniting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that if it weren’t for Buni, he would not have joined the ruling party.

He went on to say that individuals should be treated properly and that Nigerians should not fight over religion or ethnicity.

The minister, on the other hand, has cautioned that he will not fight the PDP unless they attack him first.

He further denied rumors that he left the PDP for financial benefit, stating that he is a very wealthy guy who would not have left the party for financial gain.
