My Mother Is Itsekiri But I Still Speak Yoruba Well; I Have Igbo In My Blood – Oluremi Tinubu

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu recently attended the opening of the Diamed Center in Lagos where she spoke about her diverse background.

In a video shared by Channels TV, Mrs Tinubu disclosed that her mother is from the Itsekiri ethnic group, but she can still speak Yoruba fluently. She emphasized the importance of understanding and appreciating different cultures.

Mrs Tinubu also said she has ties to various ethnic groups, including Igbo which helps her relate to people from all parts of the country. She described hereself as a “detribalized” Nigeria

In Oluremi Tinubu’s words: “CEO you see that I am not doing badly. My mother is Itsekiri but I still speak Yoruba well, so you go and learn. So that is why I am a true Nigerian. I have Igbo, everyone is in my blood so that is why I am a very detribalized Nigerian”.
