KENNETH OKONKWO; A PRODUCT OF FAILED CONTRACEPTIVE

As Nigeria celebrates today as democracy day, I cannot help but feel the bile building up in me; like in most Akwa Ibomites, I reflect on the foul-mouthed tirade of a certain demented miscreant named Kenneth Okonkwo; a failed nollywood actor and attempted politician.

Most right thinking people received with deep concern the recent comments credited to Kenneth, in which he described His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, as a “transgenderic governor”—a term as senseless as it is offensive.

In reflection, it is only a man who is a product of a failed contraceptive or broken condom that could make such a statement and all evidence points to Kenneth being one. I am also tempted to conclude that Kenneth has severe diarrhea of the mouth which may have been one of the reasons he failed as an actor and a politician.

Let it be stated unequivocally that such a statement is not only a baseless and reckless personal attack on Governor Umo Eno, but also a direct insult to the collective dignity of the peace-loving people of Akwa Ibom State who overwhelmingly elected him into office based on his vision, integrity, and capacity to lead.

Governor Umo Eno is a respected public servant, entrepreneur, and pastor, whose record of service reflects decency, competence, and a deep commitment to development. To reduce his persona to a slur—meant to provoke, demean, and dehumanize—is unbecoming of any public figure, let alone one who once pretended to be a nollywood actor and seeks to be regarded as a statesman in political circles .

Every right thinking person had expected Kenneth to have immediately retracted that statement and issue an unreserved apology to Governor Umo Eno and the entire people of Akwa Ibom State. But no, his fickle mind hasn’t told him that it’s the right thing to do. Every right thinking person acknowledges the fact that our democratic discourse must be driven by ideas, not insults; by values, not vulgarity.

I remain proud of our governor’s leadership, and I reject any attempt—no matter how politically motivated—to bring his office or the good people of Akwa Ibom State to ridicule.

I am very proud Akwa Ibomite and I feel very insulted by Kenneth Okonkwo’s fickle attempt at cheap popularity at the expense of my Governor and the 7.9m people of Akwa ibom State

My name is Charles Udoh; I write from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State
