JUST IN: Tribunal dismisses Segun Oni’s petition, affirms Oyebanji as Ekiti governor

The election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, was validated by the Election Petition Tribunal.

In its decision on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the Tribunal denied Segun Oni’s appeal for governor on behalf of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

All of the matters that were in dispute against Mr. Oni and his party, the SDP, were settled in the judgment that was read by the panel’s chairman, Justice Wilfred Kpochi, and another member, Justice Sa’ad Zadawa.

The panel determined that Mr. Oni’s plea to prevent Mr. Oyebanji and Mrs. Afuye from returning to their respective countries “failed terribly head or tail.”
