Insecurity: Kidnapped FUNAAB Student Regains Freedom After Two Days
Olayinka Toyinbo, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been freed two days after he was abducted by gunmen.
NAN reports that Kola Adepoju, the varsity’s head of directorate of public relations, announced his release on Tuesday.
Toyinbo, a 400-level student, was kidnapped alongside two others on Saturday while they were on a farm in Abule Itoko, Odeda LGA of the state.
According to Adepoju, the student was released by his abductors on Monday night unharmed, safe and sound.
“The management of the university, on behalf of the entire academic community, is deeply grateful to security agencies, both the conventional and the unconventional,” the statement read.
“We are particularly grateful to the state police command, the media, traditional rulers, other stakeholders and the public in general for their concern and efforts which culminated in the freedom of our student.”

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police spokesman, also confirmed the student’s release, adding that he and others had been reunited with their families.
“Police operatives had been in the forest for those three days. The student and the two others were released yesterday night (Monday) and they have all been reunited with their families,” he said.
