Hardship: Tinubu govt an embarrassment to Yoruba people, Buhari will be laughing at us – Reuben Abati

He said the vaunted acumen and capacity of Nigerians of Southwest extraction in managing the economy has been demystified as the nation is plunged into economic ruins under them

A veteran journalist and former Senior Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Reuben Abati, says the president Bola Tinubu administration is an unmitigated disaster and an embarrassment to the Yoruba people.

The Yorubas are one of the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria. They are domiciled in the south western part of the country. Tinubu is a Yoruba man.

He said the vaunted acumen and capacity of Nigerians of Southwest extraction in managing the economy has been demystified as the nation is plunged into economic ruins under them.

Abati said ex-President Muhammadu Buhari will be in his Daura village in Katsina State laughing at the current situation of the country.

Abati, the lead anchor on the popular Arise TV programme, Morning Show, voiced his revulsion at the state of the nation on Monday while sharing his thoughts on the show.

He stated that an ominous dark cloud of uncertainty hangs precariously over the immediate future of Nigerians, stressing that the pain has become unbearable and has gone beyond hunger.

Abati said: “Nigerians have now been thrown into energy poverty. We now find ourselves unfortunately in a situation whereby President Muhammadu Buhari, now in his Daura village in Katsina, will be laughing.

“He will say, ‘okay. I think this Yoruba people they say they know the economy. Okay, the economy is now in their hands. They have, they have taken it down. They have mismanaged it’.

“So this is what we are facing. It’s a gross embarrassment in terms of economic management to people who come from the Southwest, who say that, you know, ‘people from the Southwest are better at managing the economy’. We have not seen that evidence.”
