‘God will judge’ — Finidi George breaks silence on Victor Osimhen’s social media outburst against him

Former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has opened up about Victor Osimhen’s verbal attack against him following his resignation in June.

The Galatasaray striker took to social media to attack the former international over claims that he faked an injury to miss Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June. However, the report turned out to be false and misleading.

Following the incident, many football stakeholders, including former internationals, coaches, and fans, urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take disciplinary action against the Super Eagles striker. Others urged the 25-year-old to officially apologize to the former Real Betis forward.

In a latest development, Finidi George, who is the current head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United, disclosed that Osimhen didn’t apologize despite reaching out to him to clarify the issue.

“I sent him a message that it was not the best way, just someone telling you that the coach said that and you’re talking about me like I said it in an interview,” Finidi told Nigeria Info FM as quoted by OwnGoalNigeria.

“From that point, I didn’t hear from him. I moved on and I wish everybody well. Only God will judge.”

Victor Osimhen was on target last weekend as the Super Eagles thumped Benin Republic 3-0 in their African Cup of Nations qualifier opener at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
