Fear in Ogun communities as cultist allegedly hacks six to death
Fear has gripped residents of some communities in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State as an unnamed suspected cultist and drug addict went on the rampage and allegedly killed six persons in the communities.
It was learnt that the suspect, a graduate of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, was a notorious cultist and started killing people since Thursday.
Findings revealed that he killed two private guards working at an agro farm and one elderly Togolese on Thursday.
It was further gathered that another unidentified teenager was also killed at Ogere on Friday night while he reportedly hacked three others to death at Iperu Remo on Saturday.
Our correspondent gathered residents of Ogere and Iperu Remo together with the police launched a manhunt for him but his whereabouts were still unknown as at the time of filling this report.
It was also learnt that the people in the two communities had been staying indoors to avoid being attacked.

One of the residents who spoke on condition of anonymity said the fleeing was a patient in mental home before he escaped.
The source added that the suspect’s brother had last year allegedly reported him to the police when he noticed he was acting strangely.
Another resident of one of the communities who also spoke on condition of anonymity explained that the suspect started exhibiting mental stress after joining a cult group in school and became a drug addict.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
Oyeyemi stated that the police had launched a manhunt for the suspected killer, adding that the police would ensure his arrest regardless of his mental state.
He, however, said the police could neither confirm the number of the suspect’s victims nor his mental state.
Oyeyemi said, “We are looking for the man. We have sent out some officers to look for him. We learnt that he has gone into hiding. Any moment from now, we hope to get him.’’
