Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, all appears not well in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as one of the major contenders in this year’s presidential primary of the party, Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday kept mum on the ambition of Bola Tinubu – the APC presidential candidate.
News Direct reports that Tinubu won the APC presidential primary in June this year with the former Rivers State governor, coming in distant second position.
But Amaechi, who decked in a northern traditional title turban during a visit to Ondo State governor on Thursday , failed to make any comment on Tinubu’s presidential ambition following Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s request that Southerners must support the ex-Lagos governor as it is the turn of the zone to produce Nigeria’s president.
Akeredolu had explained that since President Muhammadu Buhari from the North is spending eight years, then it is the turn of the South to produce the next President for another eight years.
However, Amaechi, who said he was in Akure for the Presentation of Staff of Office to Olu Falae as Olu of Ilu Abo, reportedly brushed aside the governor’s comment on rallying support for Tinubu.

“Because of my campaign for Presidency, I knew Chief Olu Falae. We visited his house in Akure. So I came to visit Chief Olu Falae whom you have kindly recognized with the Panel report,” Amaechi who was conferred with the title of Dan Amanar Daura by Emir of Daura early this year, said.
Reacting to Amaechi’s seeming cold attitude towards Tinubu’s presidential ambition during the Ondo’s visit, a Facebook user, Tolu Babalaye, said the behaviour of the former Transportation Minister signalled that all is not well in APC.
“Rotimi Amaechi did not talk about APC 2023, something is amiss. Peace,” he said in a comment on Gov Akeredolu’s Facebook page.
Another Facebook user, Baba Oluwadarasimi, said : “His body language and his followers are not in tandem with Jagaban Presidential ambition. They are still lamenting the defeat of the APC Presidential primary. Trillions of Amaechi and his cohorts cannot stop the emergence of ASIWAJU Bola Ahmed Tinubu Jagaban as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 29th of May, 2023.
News Direct reports that there has been reports that Amaechi is unhappy with the way Tinubu is politically romancing with Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, to the detriment of APC in Rivers State.
