2027 Presidency: Dele Momodu Blasts Nyesom Wike Over Zoning

Dele Momodu, a PDP Chieftain, has launched a scathing critique of former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for asking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone it 2027 presidential ticket to the Southern part of the country.
Mr Momodu further questioned Mr Wike’s loyalty to the PDP and accused him of sowing discord within the party.
In a strongly worded statement, Momodu challenged Wike’s recent political rhetoric, asking, “Which Constitution of Nigeria is Mr. Wike quoting?” He suggested that Wike’s current agitation stems from disappointment over not being selected as the PDP’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
“Despite wielding considerable influence under the current Tinubu administration, Wike has found no peace. He is entangled in conflicts on multiple fronts and has repeatedly disrespected senior figures in the party,” Momodu said.
He described Wike as a man who should be “the happiest and most grateful on earth” given the opportunities and privileges he has enjoyed, particularly from the PDP. However, Momodu lamented that “peace is not a commodity you can buy in the marketplace.”
Momodu further expressed concern over those aligning themselves with Wike, describing them as followers “moving like robots.” He recalled that during Wike’s ongoing internal battles, three governors lost their senatorial bids, with only one narrowly escaping defeat — a situation he attributed to misplaced loyalty and internal strife.

He emphasized the importance of contentment and warned that excessive anger leads to self-destruction.
Momodu also condemned Wike’s recent declaration that he would support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2027 presidential election, even as he continues to participate in PDP meetings and issues directives. He criticized what he views as Wike’s hypocrisy and overreach, accusing him of attempting to impose zoning decisions on the party based on fear rather than principle.
“There hasn’t been as much as a whimper from the rest of you,” Momodu said, calling on PDP members to assert themselves and reject manipulation.
He concluded with a prayerful appeal: “Wonderful Lord, please give us real men who would reject being herded like sheep by one young man intoxicated by transient power.”
The comments add fuel to ongoing tensions within the PDP as it struggles to define its direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
