Zamfara Deputy Gov. Ali Slams Matawalle
Deputy Governor Mahdi Ali of Zamfara has lambasted Governor Bello Matawalle for the state’s “stagnant” education system, urging him to focus on getting students back in the classroom rather than trying to destabilize the PDP.
This was said by the deputy governor on Monday night, following the conclusion of the PDP congress, in which Bala Mande was elected party chairman in Zamfara.
Mr Ali encouraged the governor to focus on the state’s problems rather than the PDP.
The deputy governor of Zamfara pleaded with Mr Matawalle to offer significant development to the state, noting that “our children’s education has stayed at a stop.”
Following the defection of the state governor to the APC, Mr Ali expressed worry over the “way and manner” in which the PDP was treated in the state.
Mr Ali characterized the PDP as law-abiding, noting that the party has the constitutional right to exist in Zamfara. He promised to re-establish the PDP in the state by enlisting the help of the state’s lively and intellectually-inclined youth.

He went on to say that after the 2023 general elections, the party would be able to assume control of the state.
Mr. Mande, the new Zamfara PDP chairman, said the new party leadership was committed to bringing progressive changes to the party and the state.
He stated that PDP’s operations would remain orderly.
The PDP’s congress was rescheduled twice before it finally took place on Monday.
The party had to find a new location for the convention after the first one was set on fire by unknown assailants.
Apart from Mr Mande, the newly elected executives included Kabir Jabaka (deputy chairman), Faruk Ahmed (secretary), Abdullahi Salmanu (youths leader) and Abba Bello (publicity secretary).
Others were Madina Shehu (women leader); Usama Maharazu (treasurer); Saidu Baidu (auditor) and Shaaibu Attahiru (legal adviser); Abdul Mustapha (vice-chairman, Zamfara Central); Ali Namoda (vice-chairman, Zamfara North) and Muazu Gwashi (vice-chairman Zamfara South).
