“We Trekked For Four Days” – Released Tegina Islamiyya School Pupil Narrates Ordeal

Zuwaira Isa, a student at Tegina Islamiyya school who was just released from a kidnappers’ den, has spoken out about her ordeal at the hands of her kidnappers.

The release of the kidnapped pupils of Tanko Salihu Islamic school in Tegina, Rafi Local Administration Area of Niger State was previously announced by the Niger State government.

During an interview with reporters, Zuwaira described how she and other youngsters travelled for nearly four days through the wilderness before arriving at their final destination.

She further revealed that the robbers lifted the children on their motorcycles throughout the movement.

“We were fed with rice though not enough to satisfy us. We were subjected to severe beatings both in the morning and evening and they threatened to kill us if our parents did not pay our ransom,” Isa said.

Another student, Hauwa Musa said, ” they usually beat us and threaten to kill us and dump our bodies in the bush if our parents did not pay the ransom.”

Musa further revealed that the bandits were giving them small food ration and one pure water sachet for two abductees.

She, however, said that the incident would not deter her from continuing with her educational pursuit.

“I am so much eager to go back to school,” she added.
