We Don’t Need Anti-grazing Law In Imo, Herdsmen, Farmers In Peace – Uzodinma
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has stated that there is no need for a law prohibiting open grazing in the state, claiming that farmers and herders coexist peacefully.
During a Channels Television interview on Thursday, the governor stated this.
According to him, the state administration simply managed grazing activities in a way that benefited both herders and farmers in the state.
Governor Uzodinma said that Fulani herders and farmers had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to coexist peacefully, claiming that both groups have been conducting their operations without incident.
He said, “I don’t have any law in Imo State for Anti-Grazing. What we have done is that we are regulating grazing activities in the State under a partnership between our farmers and our herders.
“They signed a Memorandum of Understanding in my office where they agreed to work together and both parties have been going about their businesses without causing any grievances or anger to each other”.
