Vladimir Putin’s Advisor Reportedly Quits Over Opposition To Ukraine War

Anatoly Chubais, a top adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, has resigned from his position as the Kremlin’s ambassador to foreign organizations.

According to NAN, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Chubais quit at his own initiative.”

Chubais’ departure was said to be tied to Russia’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine, but Peskov stressed it was a “personal” decision.

The 66-year-old Moscow insider was said to be departing Russia for Turkey.

In December 2020, Chubais was appointed as a special representative to international organizations.

Chubais was a key architect of Russia’s post-Soviet transition to a market economy during former President Boris Yeltsin’s rule.

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia began in February, and many people have died as a result.
