Three Governors Who Defied Buhari’s Order On Twitter Ban

Days After Malami had ordered the Federation’s Director of Public Prosecutions to “switch into action and begin in earnest the process of prosecuting violators of the Federal Government’s de-activation of Twitter activities in Nigeria, Some top Nigerian Governors defiled the proecution rule and went ahead to use Twitter despite ban.
Here are the list of governors who defied the rule below;

1-
Nasir El Rufai

Nasir el-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, defied the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, on Sunday when he tweeted despite the Federal Government’s directive making it illegal for Nigerians to post or visit the microblogging site Twitter.

El-Rufai’s tweet at 09:37pm meant he could have bypassed the suspension, like many others, through the use of virtual private networks.

“Based Nigeria: African country teaches US lesson in how to handle Big Tech tyranny,” the post to his over 1.9 million followers read.

2 – Seyi Makinde

Seyi-Makinde

The governor of Oyo state, seyi makinde who opposed Twitter suspension and asked the federal government to reverse the suspension of Twitter’s operations in the country, also defiled the rule by making a tweet Saying;

“I have received the shocking news of the attacks on residents of Igangan, Ibarapaland, in the early hours of this morning. I am currently being briefed on the incidents. I urge residents to remain calm as security operatives are now in control of the situation”

3 – Rotimi Akeredolu

The Governor of Ondo state also defied the rule by tweeting;

“IGANGAN PROVOCATIVE ONSLAUGHT ONE TOO MANY.

…we have directed the Commanders of the South West Security Network, Amotekun, to convoke a joint security meeting of all Commanders in the South West with a view to commencing joint operations in the region immediately”
