They found it was RCCG’s account, I said Adeboye will curse you if you touch his money—Ola Olukoyede
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has shared a personal story of how he was once investigated by the very agency he now leads, with the probe ultimately exonerating him of any wrongdoing.
Speaking in a video shared by Channels TV, Olukoyede recalled that during the investigation, authorities discovered he was a signatory to multiple bank accounts. Initially raising suspicions, further examination revealed that the accounts belonged to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where Olukoyede held a trusted administrative role.
“When I was being investigated, the only thing they saw was so many accounts I was signatory to,” he recounted. “They said they have caught me. They found out it was Redeem’s church accounts.”
Olukoyede explained that the funds were strictly for church activities and that Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the RCCG, had established a strong culture of financial discipline. He highlighted that Adeboye’s spiritual leadership served as a deterrent against financial misconduct. “Baba Adeboye will put a curse on you if you touch his church money,” he said, emphasizing the weight of integrity within the organization.
The EFCC chairman used the opportunity to stress the importance of living with honesty and maintaining a clear conscience. “Let our hands be clean and let our hearts be pure. That is the only thing that can help you,” he said, pointing to integrity as a guiding principle for success and accountability in leadership.
