Tension In South-West Over Sunday Igboho’s Arrest
The arrest of Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has heightened tensions in Nigeria’s South-West area.
Igboho was reportedly apprehended at an airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic, on Monday night.
Residents should avoid volatile locations, according to a security alert reviewed by NEWS DIRECT Tuesday morning.
“Be security cautious and keep situational awareness,” they were told.
Igboho’s detention was part of the federal government’s crackdown on agitators.
At various instances, the president and the Department of State Services (DSS) intimated that the secessionist would be arrested.

Garba Shehu, a presidential advisor, stated Igboho was “performing acts of terror and disturbing the peace” after the raid on his Soka house in Ibadan.
The image maker accused the Yoruba Nation agitator of seeking to construct an arsenal and plotting to destabilize the country’s unity.
Earlier, the DSS promised that the loud separatist will be imprisoned at a press conference when weapons discovered in Igboho’s home were shown.
Peter Afunanya, the spokesman, said Igboho may run and hide as long as he wants, “the end of his shenanigans” was certain.
“Soon, he will not have a hiding place. His strength will sure fail him, the law will catch up with him. The law may be slow. But it will be steady”, he added.
