Tension As Shaibu Threatens Obaseki, Reveals What He Will Do

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has issued a strong warning to Governor Godwin Obaseki, threatening to expose alleged misconduct if Obaseki’s allies continue to insult him.

Shaibu, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), made these remarks while speaking to reporters after attending Sunday Mass at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.

Shaibu disclosed that he had endured Obaseki’s actions for over 15 months but claimed the governor’s recent behavior had gone too far. He warned that Obaseki had mistaken his silence for weakness and vowed to expose several wrongdoings committed by the governor.

The deputy governor stressed the importance of accountability in governance, urging religious leaders to avoid conferring unearned divine titles, such as “God’s Servant Governor,” on politicians.

Shaibu criticized Obaseki’s leadership, accusing him of actions that betray the principles of servant leadership. These actions, according to Shaibu, include conflicts with the church, revoking Certificates of Occupancy from underprivileged citizens, demolishing homes of opposition politicians, and other injustices.

Shaibu also called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to resist political influence and stand against the perpetuation of injustice. He urged the Christian community to serve as a beacon of hope for all citizens and to ensure that their faith remains untarnished by political affiliations.
