Tambuwal: HIV/AIDS prevalence reduces to 0.4% in Sokoto

The prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in Sokoto State has reduced from 3.5 per cent in 2015 to 0.4 per cent this year.

This was disclosed by Governor Aminu Tambuwal while receiving the National Co-ordinator, Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS in Nigeria and improvement of health coverage, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, who paid him a congratulatory visit in Sokoto.

Tambuwal reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to addressing the health challenges of the people, including healthcare delivery services, in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

He further assured the people that richer health coverage would be pursued by the state government, especially in the rural areas.

Governor Tambuwal said government would work hard to harness the resources of the state with a view to achieving the objectives of the health sector.

Tambuwal expressed gratitude to the group for the visit, saying that his victory at the polls was as an act of God.

He, however, assured the people that government would continue to provide enabling environment for continuous prevalence of peace in the state.

The governor also said that effort would be intensified to ensure that the House of Assembly passed the revised Sokoto State Penal Code Law.
