Skit Maker De General Found Guilty Of Drug Trafficking – Court

On Monday, Justice Daniel Osiagor of a Federal High Court in Lagos found Joshua Sunday, also known as De General, guilty of cocaine trafficking.

The defendant, who is also a social media personality, was brought to court alongside Caleb William, a cinematographer, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

In his decision, Justice Osiagor stated that the amount of material in the case was insignificant, and that he would rather convict and caution the defendants than punish them.

As a result, the defendants were found guilty and warned to “go and sin no more.”

Both defendants, both 22, are accused of trafficking Tramadol and Cannabis Sativa on three counts.

Both of them agreed to plead guilty to the accusation.

Following their pleas, the prosecutor, Jeremiah Aernan, went over the facts of the case with an NDLEA exhibit keeper, Lucky Oghaifu, and presented evidence to the court.

The defendants were accused of committing the crime on January 12, 2022, according to the complaint.

De General admitted to owning the drugs seized in his flat, according to the PUNCH.

They were arrested in the Lekki district of Lagos for illegally trading in 15 g of cannabis and 14 g of tramadol, according to the prosecution.

The offence, he added, is in violation of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.

In response, Defense Counsel Lilian Omotunde encouraged the court to examine alternative options besides condemning the offenders, arguing that they were still in their prime and may be beneficial to society.

According to the Nigerian News Agency, the defendants told the court during their interrogation that they had never tasted drugs.

They testified in court that the narcotics were utilized as props for a comedic routine they were filming at the time of their detention.
