Rivers Crisis: Wike Opens Up On Regretting That He Made Fubara Governor

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has opened up on regretting that he made Siminalayi Fubara Governor of Rivers State.

Wike expressed his unwavering support for Fubara’s governorship bid during a New Year luncheon at his residence in Rumueprikom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. Wike, along with other state leaders, endorsed Fubara, emphasizing their belief in his ability to consolidate the state’s legacy.

Wike asserted, “I don’t regret what I did, and I will never regret what I did because I want the unity of this state for us to forge ahead.” He highlighted the strategic decision to support Fubara for the governorship to ensure the unity of Rivers State, adding, “If I had wanted an Ikwerre man, nobody would have stopped me.”

Wike disclosed the efforts to facilitate Fubara’s candidacy, including persuading other contenders, such as former Rivers PDP Chairman Felix Obuah, to step aside. He stated, “Let’s allow everybody to be part of it because we belong to one Rivers State. If I had wanted, nobody would have stopped me.”
