Please Don’t Make Too Much Profit, Buhari Begs Nigerian Traders

On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari pleaded with traders not to inflate the price of rams and other food goods by taking advantage of the strong demand created by Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Garba Shehu, the president’s communications aide, relayed the president’s appeal in his Sallah greeting to Nigerians.

“Taking advantage of the festivity to exploit fellow citizens through exorbitant food and ram prices is contradictory with Islam’s excellent virtues,” he said.

“As practicing Christians, we should not pursue extravagant riches by making others’ lives difficult or unhappy. We should not pursue happiness at the price of others’ happiness.

Mr Buhari reminded Nigerians that Islam is a charitable religion that encourages people to love their neighbors as they love themselves.

In the spirit of peaceful coexistence, he exhorted all Muslims to continue to live in peace and harmony with their fellow Nigerians of other religions.

“Let us pray for Nigeria’s progress at all times. Let us expose those among us who are causing security problems for the country,” the president continued to appeal to Nigerians.
