There is a heightened anxiety within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Appeal Court is set to deliver its judgment on Ladi Adebutu’s petition against Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Ladi Adebutu, the PDP candidate, had initially taken his case to the tribunal, challenging Governor Abiodun’s victory in the March 18 governorship election. Allegations included non-compliance with the Electoral Act, irregularities, and corrupt practices, with a claim of over 40,000 voters being disenfranchised due to violence.
However, the Hamidu Kunaza-led tribunal dismissed Adebutu’s petition, citing a lack of merit. Unsatisfied with the decision, Adebutu escalated the matter to the Appeal Court, seeking a reversal of the tribunal’s judgment.
Members from both political parties have left Ogun State to observe the court proceedings scheduled to take place at the Court of Appeal in Igbosere, Lagos, starting at 9 am.
