Osinbajo Departs Nigeria, To Represent Buhari At UN Event In London
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will leave Nigeria for London on Thursday.
President Muhammadu Buhari will be represented by Osinbajo at a United Nations High-Level Event on the Energy Transition in Africa Agenda, with a focus on Nigeria.
Meetings coordinated by UN-Energy will be held at Imperial College on Friday before of the UN Climate Conference COP26, which will be hosted by the United Kingdom in Glasgow, Scotland.
Osinbajo’s journey to London was announced by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, in a statement.
According to the release, Osinbajo will deliver a speech at Imperial College London and engage in discussions with academics about the global energy transition.
According to the statement: “Prof. Osinbajo will also hold talks with the President-Designate of COP26, Mr Alok Sharma, a cabinet rank UK Minister and the Chair of the UK Government’s COP26 Energy Transition Council, discussing issues regarding the 2050 global Net-Zero emissions target and the need for the international community to align on the key elements of a just and equitable transition for all. The meeting holds at Whitehall.

In his entourage is the Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor, and Buhari’s Special Adviser on Economic Matters, Adeyemi Dipeolu.
He is expected back in Nigeria on Sunday.
