No One Is Left In Okuama Where Soldiers Were Killed In Delta- Gov Oborevwori Laments
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has lamented that nobody is left in Okuama community in Delta State where soldiers on a peacekeeping mission were killed.
The Governor revealed yesterday that Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State now stands deserted following the tragic killings of Army officers and men. “First and foremost, the community has been deserted,” he stated, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Speaking after briefing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the developments, Governor Oborevwori described the incident as “strange” and expressed his inability to reach any of the community leaders. He emphasized, “We’ve only gotten a full briefing from the Army, and we’re on it.”
Updating the House of Representatives, Francis Waive, the community’s representative, disclosed, “My people are hiding in the bush,” illustrating the prevailing fear and chaos.
The Army reported 17 casualties, including four officers: Lt. Col. A.H Ali, Maj. Safa, Maj. D.E Obi, and Captain U. Zakari. Staff Sergeant Yahaya Saidu, Corporal Yahaya Danbaba, and others were among the soldiers tragically killed during a peace mission.
Governor Oborevwori assured that justice would prevail, stating, “We’re on the same page to fish out the real culprits because innocent people will not suffer for it.” He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace and security, promising support for the bereaved families. “The families of those killed will not be abandoned,” he affirmed.
