Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Team To Challenge October 21 Adjournment Date
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the primary counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has announced that the team of lawyers will initiate a “judicial process” to guarantee that Kanu’s trial be heard before the October 21 postponement date.
In a Monday update, Ejiofor also mentioned that the court had permitted Kanu’s friends and relatives to see him in detention.
It was announced earlier today that Kanu’s trial has been extended till October 21 by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, due to the Nigerian government’s refusal to produce him in court on Monday.
Ejiofor had informed the court that Kanu was being held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) and was being transferred to a penitentiary facility.
The trial could not continue without the IPOB leader, according to Justice Binta Nyako.
The court has set a date for the case to be continued on October 21, 2021.
