Nnamdi Kanu Should Be Granted Bail Since Gumi, Killer Herdsmen Walk Freely – Adeyanju

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, should be released on bail, according to Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based rights campaigner.

Kanu should be released and allowed to finish his trial from home, according to Adeyanju.

Kanu, he said, should be given some sort of freedom while killer herdersmen and Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi are wandering freely.

In a tweet, the coordinator of Concerned Nigerians warned the court might limit Kanu’s movement to Abuja.

According to Adeyanju: “Gumi, all the killer herdsmen are roaming the streets free, then Nnamdi Kanu should be released on bail to attend his trial from home. The court can even restrict him to Abuja this time around.”

Kanu had jumped bail granted by the Federal High Court, led by Justice Binta Nyako, in 2017 and departed the country.

He was, however, apprehended and repatriated to Nigeria to finish his trial last week Sunday.

Kanu was hauled before Justice Nyako on Tuesday, who remanded him in the Department of State Services’ custody while adjourning the case.

Before the Nyako-led court, the IPOB leader was charged with terrorism.
