Nigeria to close most of its embassies

Nigeria is expected to close down 80 of its 110 embassies because it cannot afford to keep them going.

The latest budget only contains enough funds for 30 foreign missions.

Government officials said some embassies were in a terrible state, with the mission in Russia not having a flushing toilet.

In some cases, diplomatic officials are unable to pay utility bills, rent or their children’s school fees, reports the BBC.
