A report has disclosed a new plot by top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to remove Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office.

According to The Punch, at least 12 members of the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by the acting National Chairman, Umaru Damagum, are allegedly collaborating with Wike to unseat Governor Fubara. This development has reportedly caused a split within the NWC, dividing it into two factions, with three members opposing the move to remove Fubara.

The other NWC members allegedly involved in the plan include the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature; Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshoedo; and eight others. Meanwhile, National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, and National Financial Secretary Daniel Woyegikuro are reportedly against the plot.

There have been running crisis between the camps of Wike and Fubara for several months. As a result, Governance in Rivers State has been nearly paralyzed due to the ongoing political feud between Wike and Fubara, both of whom are members of the PDP with their loyalists also in the rings fighting for their masters.
