Lagos Announces Three-month Traffic Diversion From Marine Bridge
The Federal Government will begin repair work on the Marine Bridge in the Ijora district of Lagos State, and traffic will be diverted for three months.
The Lagos State Government, which made the announcement on Tuesday, indicated that the repairs would be carried out in stages, beginning on Wednesday (today) and ending on December 23, 2021.
Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the Commissioner of Transportation, said in a statement that the repairs would be done on different portions of the bridge.
He said, “The Lagos State Government will be diverting traffic at Marine Bridge as the Federal Government commences emergency repair works on different sections of the bridge from tomorrow, Wednesday 29th of September till 23rd of December, 2021.
“The repairs will be done in phases to minimise inconveniences for motorists. The Ijora bound lane will be closed off to vehicular movement during the first phase and the Apapa bound lane for the second phase subsequently.”
Oladeinde further explained that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officials would guide motorists during the stipulated period.

“Motorists heading towards the Ijora area will be diverted to a counter flow on the Apapa bound lane and vice versa when the Apapa bound lane is closed for repairs, to reduce gridlock during the course of the repairs.
“The state government seeks residents’ cooperation for the successful commencement and completion of the emergency works.”
