Just like Buhari, Tinubu Fails To Appoint Minister For Juicy Petroleum Ministry
Just like his predecessor, President Tinubu will be heading the petroleum ministry after unveiling the portfolios of 45 ministers nine days after they were confirmed by the Senate in a week-long screening exercise.
President Tinubu further split the Ministry of Petroleum Resources with the appointment of Ekperipe Ekpo as Minister of State, Gas Resources and Heineken Lokpobiri who was equally appointed Minister of State, Petroleum Resources.
According to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s former Communication aide, Bashir Ahmad, Tinubu is the potential minister of Petroleum Resources.
He noted that Tinubu took after former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Buhari, who opted to assign the ministry to themselves.

Tweeting, Ahmad wrote: “President Bola Tinubu is our potential Minister of Petroleum Resources. He will be following in the footsteps of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari, who occupied the post during their tenures.
“This time there are two junior ministers under the Ministry, a Minister of State for Petroleum and a Minister of State for Gas Resources.”
The General Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Lumumba Okugbawa, said there was nothing wrong with the President occupying the position of petroleum minister.
He said, “All the ministers report to the President, so for him to hold the position of petroleum minister doesn’t really matter much. What we should demand is for him to perform. So it doesn’t really matter that he decided to hold that position.”
The ministers will be sworn in by the President at the State House Conference, Aso Villa, Abuja on Monday.
A statement on Wednesday by the Director, Information Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey said the ministers could attend the ceremony with two guests each.
