A top Nigerian has passed away just moments after midnight on his birthday.
Chief Frank Kokori, a former General Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), died at the age of 80. His death was reported around 1:30 am on Thursday, coincidentally the same day he reached the milestone of 80 years.
The news of the demise of the ailing former labor union leader was confirmed by his personal assistant, Atawada Barry Oke. Oke disclosed that Kokori’s health had deteriorated on Monday, leading to his placement on life support as he could no longer engage with those around him.
Kokori’s passing occurred just one month after he raised concerns from his hospital bed on Thursday, November 9, 2023, stating that he had been neglected despite his significant contributions to the democratic growth of the country.
The octogenarian had been battling a kidney-related ailment and was receiving medical care at Mount Horeb Clinic in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State since early November. His death marks the end of the prominent figure’s journey, highlighting the challenges faced by individuals, even those who have played crucial roles in the nation’s development.
